HOW ONBOARDING WORKS
Our onboarding is handled primarily through Discord, where we run events, coordinate gameplay, and manage day-to-day activity.
RSI Spectrum is used for official affiliation and tracking, but Discord is where you’ll actually engage with the group.
Everything you need to get started is available in both places, but Discord is the center of gravity.
QUICK NOTE
This page and website exists as a reference—but once you join, everything you need will be there.
All of the most up-to-date information, onboarding steps, guides, and resources are available inside the Discord.
Everything you see here is built to be simple, accessible, and easy to engage with.
If it sounds like the right fit, jump in and see for yourself.
We don’t run interviews or gatekeep players.
Our onboarding is self-guided and built around fit, not filtering. When you join the Discord, ATHENA will walk you through everything step by step.
If it sounds like a good fit, or you just want to try it out, jump in.
If not, no pressure. At least you’ll know upfront, and we’ll see you in the ‘verse.
QUICK F.A.Q.
Do I need experience to join?
No. We’re new-player friendly, mindset matters more than experience.
Do I have to attend events regularly?
No. There are no strict attendance requirements. Real life comes first.
Is this a MILSIM group?
Yes & No. We’re MILSIM-Lite: structured and tactical, without rigid hierarchy or control.
Do I have to join RSI Spectrum?
No, but we recommend it for official tracking, but Discord is where everything happens.
Can I stay in my current org?
Yes. We’re non-exclusive and support cross-org play through our Ambassador program.
FIND YOUR PLACE
JTF 501 gives you structure for identity and coordination—without locking you into a role.
We use units and elements to help organize gameplay, build team identity, and support operations. They give you a sense of where you fit and how you contribute.
But they are not restrictive.
You can move between roles, switch playstyles, and jump into any operation that interests you.
UNITS WITH PURPOSE — NOT LIMITS
Our units are designed to support both individual identity and team cohesion.
They help us:
Build balanced teams
Organize mission elements
Create camaraderie and shared identity
But they don’t define what you can or can’t do.
A pilot can run ground ops.
A Marine can crew a capital ship.
A support player can jump into combat.
We provide the structure —> you decide how to use it.
BUILT FOR FLEXIBLE GAMEPLAY
When we run operations, we organize around functional elements like, but not limited to:
ASSAULT – Ground combat, boarding, direct action
AIR – Fighters, dropships, close air support
RECON – Scouting, intel, forward observation
SUPPORT – Logistics, multi-crew, sustainment
Anyone can sign up for any role depending on the mission or what they feel like running.
PLAY YOUR WAY
There are no locked roles, no forced assignments, and no rigid pathways. Some players specialize. Some rotate roles every session. Some just show up and jump in.
All of it works here.
CHOOSE YOUR BRANCH
Your branch is a thematic identity and coordination tool, not a restriction.
It helps shape how you show up in the organization, build camaraderie, and support how we organize operations.
You can fight, fly, crew, or support regardless of what you choose.
